We mourn the loss of our Squadron 58 Commander, William "Bill" Kelley, who died last month after fighting a long and hard battle against cancer. Our position of Commander is now vacant. We are always looking for officers and workers, we do not take up much of anyones time, meeting just once a month at the Post, the 2nd Sunday of the month for the S.A.L. breakfast and to discuss any business that may come before us.
Dues are still $10.00 for Early Birds until Veterans Day when they will be raised to our regular fee of $13.00. So get those renewals in as soon as possible. We are going to be looking at some fund raising activities in the post such as special meals or a raffle - we're always looking for ideas. We volunteered for the purchase of the new big screen HD TV in the post an we are committed to getting it paid off as soon as possible - we have made one donation already with more to come but we need ideas and support.
I would like to see an increase in dual membership, we have many already - membership in the S.A.L. is your honoring of a family members service to our nation such as a father, grandfather, etc.
You don't hear from us much except during the S.A.L. breakfast but S.A.L. members are all around you at the post supporting where we can.
As always, thanks to our Sunday volunteers, Doris, Marty and Commander Dave.
Renny Keagle
Adjutant, Squadron 58
The Preamble to our Constitution
Proud possessors of a priceless heritage, we male descendants of veterans of the Great Wars, associate ourselves together as "Sons of The American Legion" for the following purposes:
To uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America; to maintain law and order; to foster and perpetuate a true spirit of Americanism; to preserve the memories of our former members and the associations of our members and our forefathers in the Great Wars; to inculcate a sense of individual obligation to the community, state and nation; to combat the autocracy of both the classes and masses; to make right the master of might; to promote peace and good will on earth; to safeguard and transmit to posterity the principles of justice, freedom and democracy; to consecrate and sanctify our friendship by our devotion to mutual helpfulness; to adopt in letter and spirit all of the great principles for which The American Legion stands; and to assist in carrying on for God and Country.
